Project Description

Archbishop’s Cathedral – Monastery of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, a monument of the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Constanța, is present on the LMI list with the 2010 code CT-II-m-A-02793.

The Orthodox Cathedral “Holy Apostles Peter and Paul” is located in the peninsular area of ​​the city of Constanța and was built in the neo-Byzantine style, from pressed brick according to the plans of architects Alexandru Orăscu and Carol Beneș, between the years 1883 – 1885. The original painting was done by the painter George Demetrescu Mirea. The sculpture on the iconostasis and the pews, as well as the chandeliers, polycanders and candlesticks (metallic alloy of bronze with brass) were designed by the architect Ion Mincu and made in Paris. The German artist Wirnst developed the stained glass windows.
